Multilayer circuit boards, also known as multilayer printed wiring boards (MLPC) or multilayer printed wiring boards (MLPWC), are an important part of modern electronics. It consists of multiple layers of copper foil, insulation layers, and sometimes an additional metal substrate. MLPCBs can be manufactured in a variety of layers, materials, surface finishes, linewidths, silk screen colors and impedance control configurations.

MLPCB is usually made of FR-4 material with a dielectric constant of 4.2-4.3. It also offers a variety of other materials such as aluminum, flexible materials and higher heat-resistant grade materials with a heat resistance rating of 150-170. Surface treatment can be HASL, ENIG, OSP, immersion silver and gold finger. The line width can be as small as 3mil, and the screen printing color can be white, black or yellow. Impedance control is also available on certain types of multilayer circuit boards.
